Hilarion has emphasized (in the Summer Solstice 08 and Fall Equinox 08) the importance of raising public awareness of "The Giant Swirling Mass of Plastic in the Pacific Ocean", so that necessary changes to the human society and industries can take place as soon as possible.

As far as dissolving the giant swirling mass of plastic (now larger than the size of Texas), Hilarion has noted that there is need for research and development on use of biological decomposer agents (eg. bacteria) to dissolve the plastic, and this would require multi-national government attention and funding, which is why public awareness on this matter is so important.
